Collegiality Masquerade: Cameroon’s Bishops Promote Conciliar Apostasy

The Vatican News portal (12 January 2026) reports on the closing Mass of the 49th Annual Seminar of Cameroon’s “bishops,” held at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Kumba. Presided over by “archbishop” Andrew Nkea Fuanya and apostolic nuncio Avelino Bettencourt, the event promoted the theme “Communion and Collegiality”—a modernist distortion of episcopal authority. The article applauds inter-“ecclesial” cooperation while omitting all reference to the Social Reign of Christ the King, the propitiatory nature of the Mass, and the apostate nature of the post-conciliar hierarchy.

Pseudo-Collegiality: Rejection of Papal Monarchy

The seminar’s focus on “communion and collegiality” constitutes a direct attack on the constitution of the Church as a societas perfecta (perfect society) under the monarchical authority of the Roman Pontiff. Pius IX condemned the error that “the Church is not a true and perfect society, entirely free” (Syllabus of Errors, §19). Vatican II’s collegiality myth—which these “bishops” parrot—seeks to replace divine hierarchy with democratic consensus, reducing shepherds to committee members. Bettencourt’s claim that collegiality links them to the “Bishop of Rome” deliberately obscures the fact that the current occupier of the Vatican (Robert Prevost, styled “Leo XIV”) lacks all legitimacy, having been elected by heretical “cardinals” in defiance of Cum ex Apostolatus Officio (1559).

“Our communion and collegiality links us to Christ Jesus with a close bond to the Bishop of Rome and Vicar of Christ, and to the Bishops of the Holy Roman Catholic Apostolic Church.”

This statement equivocates: the term “Vicar of Christ” is applied to a usurper, while “Holy Roman Catholic Apostolic Church” is co-opted by the conciliar sect. True bishops, as defined by Pius VI, must be “united with the Roman Pontiff, the successor of Peter” (Auctorem Fidei, 1794)—not with antipopes.

Naturalism Replaces Supernatural Faith

Nkea’s praise for Kumba Diocese as a “beacon of faith, hope, and love” rings hollow when the diocese celebrates the Novus Ordo—a ritual engineered by Annibale Bugnini to “strip the Mass of its sacrificial character” (Cardinal Alfredo Ottaviani, Critical Study of the New Mass, 1969). The article’s silence on the sacraments is damning: no mention of Confession, the Real Presence, or grace. Instead, the “bishops” reduce the Church’s mission to social work: “the Church is on the ground and present with the people.” This echoes the modernist heresy condemned by St. Pius X: “The Church is not the exclusive kingdom of Christ, for it does not differ from the natural order” (Lamentabili Sane, §22).

Bettencourt’s exhortation to “make Christ increase in the world” ignores Pius XI’s decree that “nations must serve Christ as King, not merely in private affairs, but in public legislation” (Quas Primas, §18). Nowhere do these “bishops” demand Cameroon’s conversion to the Catholic State, instead peddling empty platitudes about “unity and resilience” amid political crises.

Diplomatic Treason: Sixty Years of Apostasy

The celebration of “60th anniversary of official diplomatic relations between the Holy See and Cameroon” exposes the conciliar sect’s surrender to secular power. True popes warned against such entanglements: Leo XIII condemned the idea that “the Church ought to be separated from the State, and the State from the Church” (Syllabus of Errors, §55). By recognizing the legitimacy of Cameroon’s secular regime—which does not profess Christ as King—the nuncio betrays the Church’s divine mandate to “make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19).

Nkea’s assurance that “peace will prevail” through human effort mocks the teaching of Pius XI: “When once men recognize, both in private and in public life, that Christ is King, society will at last receive the great blessings of real liberty, well-ordered discipline, peace and harmony” (Quas Primas, §19). The “bishops” offer no call to penance, no warning of judgment—only a false gospel of worldly solidarity.

Conclusion: A Synod of Surrender

This seminar exemplifies the conciliar church’s apostasy: replacing the Mass with communal meals, dogma with dialogue, and the Kingship of Christ with UN-style diplomacy. As the true Church teaches through Pius IX: “The Roman Pontiff can, and ought to, reconcile himself with progress, liberalism, and modern civilization—NEVER!” (Syllabus of Errors, §80). Until Cameroon’s Catholics reject these false shepherds and return to the unchanging Faith, their “joyful thanksgiving” is but a dirge for their own salvation.
