Vatican Synodality Exposes Apostasy: Conciliar Sect Redefines Marriage to Appease the World

The National Catholic Register (NCR), mouthpiece of the EWTN/ACI Prensa apparatus, reports on a closed-door gathering at the Vatican marking the tenth anniversary of the antipope Francis’s Amoris Laetitia. Presidents of the Masonic-style “bishops’ conferences” convened to diagnose why young people reject Catholic marriage, citing “changing attitudes toward sexuality,” “economic insecurity,” and the “credibility” crisis caused by clerical scandals. The meeting’s premise — that the Church must “listen” to the world and “accompany” souls into a redefined matrimony — manifests the very essence of the Modernist heresy condemned by St. Pius X: the subversion of divine law to human experience.

The Conciliar Sect’s “Synodal” Theater: A Parliament of Apostasy

The article describes a meeting of “presidents of bishops’ conferences from around the world” at the Vatican, “taking place behind closed doors through Oct. 14.” This is not a Catholic synod but a conclave of the neo-church, the “paramasonic structure” occupying Rome since the usurpation of John XXIII in 1958. These “bishops” — invalidly consecrated in the novus ordo rite of Paul VI, devoid of sacramental grace and jurisdiction — possess no authority to teach, govern, or sanctify. As Pius XI teaches in Quas Primas, “the Church, established by Christ as a perfect society, demands for itself by a right belonging to it, which it cannot renounce, full freedom and independence from secular authority.” The conciliar sect, by contrast, is wholly subservient to the secular order, its “synodality” a parody of democratic deliberation designed to legitimize the revolution.

The gathering’s occasion — the tenth anniversary of Amoris Laetitia — celebrates a document that is formal heresy. The Buenos Aires “pastoral region” interpretation, confirmed in 2023 by the “Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith” as “part of the authentic magisterium” and published in the Acta Apostolicae Sedis, explicitly permits public adulterers (the “divorced-and-civilly-remarried”) to receive the Most Holy Eucharist. This contradicts the Council of Trent (Canons on the Sacrament of Penance, canon 4), the Catechism of the Council of Trent, and the constant teaching that nemo potest duobus dominis servire (no man can serve two masters). The article notes this controversy was “partly overshadowed” by the document’s proposals for “accompanying newlyweds” — a euphemism for institutionalizing sacrilege.

Reduction of the Sacrament to Naturalistic “Relationship Goals”

Archbishop Costelloe said in his presentation Friday, Oct. 9, that in his country, and possibly many others, “the concept of a necessary link between sexual activity and procreation, and the importance of this in Christian marriage, is no longer widely understood or accepted.”

Here the “Archbishop” Costelloe (a layman in the eyes of God, lacking valid orders) capitulates to the world. He does not condemn the error; he reports it as a pastoral datum. The “necessary link between sexual activity and procreation” is not a “concept” subject to cultural acceptance — it is the lex divina inscribed in nature and elevated by Christ to a sacrament. Pius XI in Casti Connubii (1930) declares: “Any use whatsoever of matrimony exercised in such a way that the act is deliberately frustrated in its natural power to generate life is an offense against the law of God and of nature, and those who indulge in such are branded with the guilt of a grave sin.” The Syllabus of Errors (1864) condemns the proposition: “By the law of nature, the marriage tie is not indissoluble, and in many cases divorce properly so called may be decreed by the civil authority” (Error 67). The conciliar sect, by its silence on contraception and its “accompaniment” of the contracepting, has effectively abrogated this law.

“Many of our young people have inherited cultural assumptions about sexuality that differ substantially from those of the Church — they may understand the Church’s position, but they do not find it easy to embrace,” the educator told him.

The language is telling: “cultural assumptions,” “the Church’s position,” “not easy to embrace.” This is the hermeneutic of situation ethics condemned in Lamentabili Sane Exitu (Proposition 59: “Christ did not proclaim any specific, all-encompassing doctrine suitable for all times and peoples, but rather initiated a certain religious movement, applied or applicable to different times and places”). The “educator” (likely a lay functionary in the neo-church’s “religious education” bureaucracy) frames divine law as a “position” — one opinion among many. The remedy proposed is not conversion but “accompaniment,” the Modernist codeword for capitulation to concupiscence.

The “Credibility” Canard: Blaming the Victims of the Revolution

Painful Circumstances Compounding the problem, Archbishop Costelloe said, many young people have experienced painful circumstances, including broken marriages in their own families, domestic violence, inequality between men and women, and the moral failures of Church leaders whose credibility has been damaged.

The “moral failures of Church leaders” are the fruit of the conciliar revolution itself: the abolition of the traditional seminary formation, the introduction of the novus ordo “priesthood” (invalid in form and intention), the infiltration of sodomites and Freemasons into the hierarchy — all facilitated by the “popes” of the New Advent. Yet Costelloe presents this as an external obstacle to “credibility,” not as the divine chastisement foretold by Our Lady at La Salette (true apparition) and Fatima (false apparition used as Masonic psychological operation, per the context file) for the apostasy of the clergy. The Syllabus condemns: “The teaching of the Catholic Church is hostile to the well-being and interests of society” (Error 40). The conciliar sect inverts this: it claims the Church’s failure to conform to the world is the problem.

Cardinal Farrell and the “Dicastery”: Administrators of the Abomination

Cardinal Kevin Farrell, prefect of the Dicastery for the Laity, the Family, and Life, warned participants that marriage rates are declining worldwide, both for civil marriages and those celebrated in the Church. “We cannot ignore the fact that the number of marriages is currently declining throughout the world, both civil marriages and marriages celebrated in the Church,” he said.

“Cardinal” Farrell, a creature of the antipope Francis, presides over a “Dicastery” — a bureaucratic department of the abomination of desolation (Matt. 24:15). His concern is statistical: “marriage rates are declining.” He does not speak of the salus animarum, the glory of God, the indissolubility of the sacrament, or the eternal damnation awaiting those who live in adultery. He speaks the language of a CEO managing a declining brand. The Syllabus condemns: “The Church is not a true and perfect society… but it appertains to the civil power to define what are the rights of the Church” (Error 19). The conciliar sect has internalized this error: it measures its “success” by worldly metrics.

“Pastors are not alone in facing this concern. It is felt first and foremost by the many Christian parents whose children suffer from loneliness, remain hesitant to make a lasting commitment, or categorically reject the path that their parents themselves had embraced with joy,” he said.

“Loneliness,” “hesitant to make a lasting commitment,” “reject the path.” The supernatural virtue of chastity, the call to virginity for the Kingdom (Matt. 19:12), the crux as the only path to resurrection — all are absent. The “joy” referenced is sentimental, not the gaudium crucis. Pius XI in Quas Primas teaches: “Christ reigns in the wills of men… because He inclines our free will and conquers it with His inspiration, so that we are inflamed for the noblest deeds.” The conciliar sect offers not conquest of the will by grace, but “accompaniment” of the will in its slavery to passion.

Bishop Fernandes: The Gospel According to “Lived Experience”

Auxiliary Bishop Stephen Fernandes of Bombay, India, argued that the Church’s central challenge is not simply to ask why young people are reluctant to marry but to understand what they are seeking in relationships. “The challenge before the Church, therefore, is not to begin by asking why young people are failing to accept marriage, but rather what are they seeking when they speak about love, freedom, dignity, and their future,” he said.

This is the inversion of the Magisterium. The Church’s task is not to “understand what they are seeking” but to proclaim what God commands. Lamentabili Sane Exitu condemns: “The Church listening cooperates in such a way with the Church teaching in defining truths of faith, that the Church teaching should only approve the common opinions of the Church listening” (Proposition 6). Fernandes makes the “Church listening” (the laity, the world) the measure of truth. “Love, freedom, dignity” — the trinity of Masonic humanism — replace the theological virtues. The Syllabus condemns: “Every man is free to embrace and profess that religion which, guided by the light of reason, he shall consider true” (Error 15). Here, every man is free to define marriage according to his “seeking.”

“The culture of immediacy and continual choice can enter their experience of intimacy, while marriage requires patience, presence, forgiveness, and perseverance,” he observed.

Marriage requires fides, castitas, sacramentum — faith, chastity, the sacramental bond. “Patience, presence, forgiveness, perseverance” are natural virtues, pagans can practice them. The sacramentum is a signum efficax gratiae, conferring the grace to live the heroic chastity and indissolubility that nature alone cannot sustain. By reducing marriage to a natural “relationship,” Fernandes denies its supernatural essence. Lamentabili Proposition 51: “The sacraments arose as a result of the interpretation by the Apostles or their successors of Christ’s thoughts and intentions, under the influence and encouragement of circumstances and events.” The conciliar sect treats the sacraments as human institutions adaptable to “culture.”

He also pointed to economic insecurity as a significant obstacle to marriage, citing employment difficulties, housing costs, migration, and social instability.

Economic insecurity as an obstacle to the sacrament? The Holy Family fled to Egypt in poverty. The early Christians married in catacombs under persecution. The Council of Trent anathematizes those who say “matrimony cannot be celebrated without the presence of a priest” — but never teaches that poverty impedes the sacrament. This is the Materialist heresy: man lives by bread alone. Pius XI in Quas Primas condemns the “secularism of our times, so-called laicism… It began with the denial of Christ the Lord’s reign over all nations.” The conciliar sect denies Christ’s Kingship by making marriage contingent on GDP per capita.

“Young people have not ceased to thirst for love. What has weakened for many is confidence that love can endure,” he said.

Love endures because Deus caritas est (1 John 4:8) and the sacrament makes the bond indissolubilis by divine law. “Confidence that love can endure” is psychologism. The true crisis is loss of faith — faith in the God who is faithful, faith in the Church that teaches infallibly, faith in the grace that perfects nature. The conciliar sect, having destroyed the liturgy, the priesthood, the catechism, and the episcopate, now wonders why the faithful have no confidence.

Theological Bankruptcy: No Grace, No Sin, No Hell, No Christ the King

Nowhere in the article — not in Costelloe, not in Farrell, not in Fernandes — is there mention of:

  • The Sixth and Ninth Commandments as binding under pain of mortal sin.
  • The state of grace as prerequisite for valid and fruitful reception of the sacrament.
  • The propitiatory Sacrifice of the Mass as the source of marital grace.
  • The Kingship of Christ over civil society, such that laws permitting divorce, contraception, and “gay marriage” are null and void (Pius XI, Quas Primas: “When God and Jesus Christ… were removed from laws and states… the foundations of that authority were destroyed”).
  • The Final Judgment where “whoremongers and adulterers God will judge” (Heb. 13:4).
  • The necessity of the Catholic Church for salvation (extra Ecclesiam nulla salus), such that “marriage in the Church” means marriage before a validly ordained priest of the true Church — not the “parishes and dioceses” of the neo-church.

This silence is the gravest accusation. It proves the conciliar sect is a synagogue of Satan (Apoc. 2:9), a “Church of the New Advent” that has “removed Jesus Christ and His most holy law from… private, family, and public life” (Pius XI, Quas Primas, opening paragraph). Its “pastoral care” is cura animarum perditionis — care for the perdition of souls.

The Masonic Blueprint: “Synodality” as Democratic Apostasy

The meeting’s structure — “presidents of bishops’ conferences,” “closed doors,” “interpreting the phenomenon,” “seeking signs of hope,” “considering initiatives” — mirrors the Masonic lodges condemned by Pius IX (Syllabus, Errors on Secret Societies) and Leo XIII (Humanum Genus). The “Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith” confirming the Buenos Aires adultery-permission in the Acta Apostolicae Sedis is the abomination of desolation standing in the holy place. As the Defense of Sedevacantism file demonstrates, a manifest heretic loses office ipso facto (Bellarmine, De Romano Pontifice; Canon 188.4; Cum ex Apostolatus Officio). The line of usurpers from John XXIII to Leo XIV (Robert Prevost) are not popes but antipopes, having defected from the faith by embracing Modernism, religious liberty, false ecumenism, and the new sacramental rites. Their “bishops” are intruders; their “sacraments” are simulations; their “magisterium” is the magisterium of the Antichrist.

Conclusion: The Only Remedy is the Integral Faith

The article ends with Bishop Fernandes urging the Church to “present marriage not simply as an obligation or social institution but as a vocation grounded in freedom, fidelity, and mutual self-giving.” This is the language of Gaudium et Spes (Vatican II), the pastoral constitution that subverted the ends of marriage by placing “mutual help” and “love” on par with procreation. The true Church, the Ecclesia militans persevering in the catacombs of Tradition (sedevacantist chapels, validly ordained priests, the unchanging Mass of Trent), proclaims: Matrimonium non potest dissolvi nisi morte (marriage cannot be dissolved except by death). Qui non credit, iudicabitur (he who believes not shall be judged). The conciliar sect’s “synod on marriage” is a synod of adultery. Let the faithful flee it as they would flee the plague, and cleave to the Traditio where Christ the King still reigns — in the Latin Mass, the true sacraments, the unbroken teaching of the Fathers, and the certainty that Portae inferi non praevalebunt (Matt. 16:18).
