Canadian Bishops’ Secular Plea Betrays Christ’s Social Kingship
The EWTN News article (December 8, 2025) reports that the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) and Toronto’s “Cardinal” Francis Leo have petitioned Prime Minister Mark Carney to retain Section 319(3)(b) of Canada’s criminal code, which currently exempts “good-faith expressions based on religious texts” from hate-speech prosecutions. The Liberal government, supported by the Bloc Québécois, seeks to remove this protection, prompting the bishops to warn of a “chilling effect on religious expression.” CCCB President “Bishop” Pierre Goudreault proposed “consultation with religious leaders” as an alternative, while “Cardinal” Leo claimed religious freedom is a “cornerstone of a healthy, democratic Canada.” Conservative MP Andrew Lawton welcomed the bishops’ stance, contrasting with Liberal accusations of “bad faith sabotage.” The debate occurs alongside Quebec’s Bill 9 banning public prayer and religious symbols. This appeal to secular tolerance exemplifies the conciliar sect’s surrender of divine authority to humanistic legalism.
Naturalism Replaces Supernatural Mission
The CCCB’s plea reduces the Church’s divine mandate to a negotiation with Caesar. By framing religious expression as a mere democratic “cornerstone” rather than Christ’s absolute reign over nations (Ps. 2:8; Pius XI, Quas Primas), these pseudo-shepherds accept the heresy of religious indifferentism condemned by Pius IX: “Every man is free to embrace and profess that religion which, guided by the light of reason, he shall consider true” (Syllabus of Errors, §15). Their letter omits any reference to Canada’s duty to recognize the exclusive truth of Catholicism as the one ark of salvation (Pius IX, Quanto conficiamur), instead equating Catholic doctrine with the “traditional moral teachings” of other faiths.
“The ability to express and teach our faith freely […] is a cornerstone of a healthy, democratic Canada.”
This statement by “Cardinal” Leo exposes the conciliar sect’s apostasy. Democracy—a system elevating human will above divine law—is irreconcilable with Regnum Christi. As Pius XI taught, nations rejecting Christ’s kingship “will in vain look for lasting prosperity” (Quas Primas, §21). Silence on this truth confirms these “bishops” serve the Masonic project of reducing religion to private sentiment, as foreseen in Pius IX’s condemnation of those claiming “the Church ought to be separated from the State” (§55).
Sacred Doctrine Degraded to Legal Exemption
The CCCB’s frightened pragmatism—begging for exemptions rather than proclaiming truth—mirrors the Modernist dissolution of dogma into subjective “religious experience” condemned by St. Pius X (Lamentabili, §22, §65). Goudreault’s fear that “traditional moral or doctrinal teachings could be misinterpreted as hate speech” reveals a deeper betrayal: the refusal to assert that Church teaching cannot contradict itself (Vatican I, Dei Filius, §4). True shepherds would denounce any law criminalizing Catholic doctrine as diabolical, not negotiate its limited application.
The proposed “consultation with religious leaders” further validates the pluralist lie that all religions merit equal deference. Contrast this with Pius IX’s decree: “The Church has not the power of defining dogmatically that the religion of the Catholic Church is the only true religion” (§21)—a principle these pseudo-bishops implicitly reject by treating Hinduism and Islam as stakeholders in defining “hate speech.”
Quebec’s Masonic Secularism Unopposed
Quebec’s Bill 9—banning prayer in public spaces and religious symbols—embodies the “abomination of desolation” foretold in Daniel 9:27. Yet the CCCB offers no condemnation, only a whispered plea for compromise. Compare this to Pius X’s defiance against France’s secularist laws: “We cannot suffer […] that the State should attribute to itself the power […] of legislating for the Church” (Vehementer Nos, 1906). The post-conciliar “bishops” instead echo Liberal MP Leslie Church’s accusation that defending religious freedom constitutes “bad faith sabotage.”
The Silence Screams Apostasy
Nowhere do these “pastors” mention Christ’s Kingship, the salvation of souls, or the eternal consequences of state-enforced apostasy. Their focus on legal technicalities (“imprisonment of up to two years”) ignores the supreme crime: Canada’s formal rejection of God’s law. As the Syllabus declares, “The State, as being the origin and source of all rights, is endowed with a certain right not circumscribed by any limits” (§39)—a heresy the CCCB tacitly endorses by seeking state permission to preach.
True Catholics recall Pius XI’s warning: “When God and Jesus Christ are removed from laws and states […] the entire human society had to be shaken” (Quas Primas, §18). Until pseudo-prelates like Goudreault demand Canada’s conversion to Catholicism—not mere “protections”—their letters are but whitewashed tombs (Matt. 23:27) in a nation racing toward hell.
