Vatican News portal (September 8, 2026) publishes the final reports of Study Groups 6 and 7 of the ongoing Synod on Synodality, revealing the definitive institutional blueprint for the demolition of the Catholic Church’s divine constitution. The reports mandate a “relational conversion” that subverts the hierarchical order established by Christ, imposes “gender equality” contracts on religious institutes, forces bishops to submit ad limina reports drafted by the laity, and establishes an “independent ecclesial commission” to judge the episcopacy. This is not reform; it is the legislative codification of the abomination of desolation.
The Synodal Pseudo-Council: A Masonic Parliament Usurping Divine Authority
The cited article relates that the General Secretariat of the Synod — the permanent bureaucratic engine of the conciliar revolution — has released documents intended to “share with the entire People of God the fruits of the reflection and discernment undertaken, thereby giving concrete expression to one of the essential characteristics of a synodal Church: transparency and accountability.” The language is deliberately corporate, Masonic, and democratic. Transparency and accountability are terms of trade unions and NGOs, not marks of the Church founded by Jesus Christ. The Church is a perfect society (societas perfecta), constituted by divine right, not a “stakeholder” enterprise answerable to an amorphous “People of God” redefined as a sovereign polity.
Pius XI, in Quas Primas, teaches that Christ’s Kingdom is “primarily spiritual” and that He “received from the Father unlimited right over all that is created.” He warns: “When God and Jesus Christ… were removed from laws and states and when authority was derived not from God but from men, the foundations of that authority were destroyed.” The Synod’s “Study Groups” — Study Group 6 on “relations between bishops, consecrated life, and ecclesial associations” and Study Group 7 on the “figure and ministry of the bishop” — function as a permanent constituent assembly, usurping the legislative, judicial, and teaching authority proper to the Roman Pontiff and the Episcopate. They produce “operational proposals to be submitted to the Holy Father,” a phrasing that reduces the Vicar of Christ to a CEO ratifying board recommendations. The “Pope” Leo XIV (Robert Prevost) is presented as the director of this process: “Pope Leo XIV has directed that the Final Reports be made public.” This is the modus operandi of the usurpation: the false pope legitimizes the revolution, and the revolution manufactures the false pope’s agenda.
“Differentiated Co-Responsibility”: The Alchemical Dissolution of the Hierarchical Priesthood
The central heresy of the new ecclesiology is explicitly named by “Cardinal” Mario Grech: “differentiated co-responsibility.” This phrase is the theological solvent designed to erase the diversitas ordinis (difference of order) between the ministerial priesthood and the common priesthood of the faithful, taught infallibly by the Council of Trent (Sess. XXIII, Can. 2) and Vatican I. The article states the aim is to “move beyond functional or merely hierarchical approaches towards relationships founded on trust, mutual listening and a generous exchange of gifts.”
There is no mission without transformed relationships. Between a bishop and religious communities, between a bishop and the portion of the People of God entrusted to him, between a local Church, the Churches within the same territory, and the Bishop of Rome, the same rule applies: we listen to one another, we come to an understanding, we exchange gifts.
This is the heresy of collegialism pushed to its logical conclusion: the Bishop is no longer the pastor and teacher (pastor et doctor) placed by the Holy Ghost to rule the Church of God (Acts 20:28), but a “facilitator” of “mutual listening.” The Syllabus of Pius IX condemns the proposition that “The Church is not a true and perfect society, entirely free… but it appertains to the civil power to define what are the rights of the Church” (Error 19). Here, the “civil power” is internalized: the “People of God” (laity, religious, movements) become the constituency to whom the bishop must answer. The “exchange of gifts” replaces the traditio (handing down) of the Deposit of Faith. St. Pius X in Lamentabili Sane Exitu condemns the Modernist proposition: “The Church listening cooperates in such a way with the Church teaching in defining truths of faith, that the Church teaching should only approve the common opinions of the Church listening” (Prop. 6). This is precisely the mechanism described: the bishops “collegially assess the state of their dioceses” based on “common discernment” with the laity.
Relational Conversion: Psychologizing the Constitution of the Church
The Report of Study Group 6 speaks of an “urgent need to foster a ‘relational conversion’ among bishops, consecrated life, and ecclesial associations.” This is Modernist psychologism substituting for metaphysical reality. Conversion (conversio) in Catholic theology is a turning of the whole person to God through grace, involving penance, faith, and obedience to revealed truth. Here, “relational conversion” means a restructuring of power dynamics: “a concrete commitment to transformation, both interior – of hearts and attitudes – and structural – of language, methods and spaces for encounter.”
The document demands “mandatory contracts or memoranda of understanding between dioceses and institutes regulating mission, formation, gender equality, remuneration and the administration of assets, accompanied by conciliation committees, deadlines and accountability indicators.” Gender equality in religious life? This is the intrusion of the anti-Christian ideology of feminism and gender theory into the sanctuary. Religious profession is a votum (vow) of obedience, chastity, and poverty, configuring the religious to Christ the Bridegroom or Christ the Bride. It is not an employment contract subject to secular labor laws and “gender equality” quotas. The Syllabus condemns: “The civil authority may interfere in matters relating to religion, morality and spiritual government… it has the right to make enactments regarding the administration of the divine sacraments” (Error 44). The conciliar sect does the work of the civil power from within, imposing its categories on the consecrated life.
Gender Equality in the Cloister: The Abomination of Secular Ideology in Consecrated Life
The explicit inclusion of “gender equality” in contracts governing religious institutes is a formal declaration of apostasy. It signifies that the “consecrated life” in the conciliar sect is no longer a state of perfection ordered to the sequela Christi (following of Christ) via the evangelical counsels, but a human resource category managed by HR departments. “Conciliation committees” and “accountability indicators” reduce the mystery of vocation to a service-level agreement. The Report proposes “the appointment in every diocese of a delegate or vicar for consecrated life, with annual meetings among bishops, consecrated persons and Conferences of Major Superiors; and synodal accompaniment during the more delicate transitions that many institutes are undergoing – declining vocations, the suppression of communities and the allocation of assets.”
The “declining vocations” and “suppression of communities” are the direct fruit of the post-conciliar rupture: the destruction of the traditional habit, the liturgy, the common life, and doctrinal certainty. Now, the “solution” offered by the revolution is bureaucratic management of the assets of dying institutes — assets built by the faith and sacrifice of true religious — likely to be liquidated to fund the synodal machine or pay lawsuits. The “synodal accompaniment” is the accompaniment of the executioner.
Ad Limina Visits Inverted: The Faithful Judge the Bishop
The second part of Study Group 7’s report attacks the ad limina apostolorum visit, a centuries-old institution of Canon Law (Canons 339-341, 1917 Code) by which the bishop renders an account to the Roman Pontiff of the state of his diocese, personally and hierarchically. The Synod proposes to invert this: “the Report invites the diocesan bishop to convoke his people so that, through ecclesial discernment, they may participate co-responsibly in drafting the Preliminary Report on the state of the diocese.”
The results of the diocesan processes would then be presented to the assembly of bishops of the Ecclesiastical Province or Episcopal Conference. The bishops would collegially assess the state of their dioceses, with the aim of strengthening pastoral collaboration and shared planning, and of offering the Pope and his collaborators an overview of the potential and needs of their territory that is, as far as possible, the fruit of common discernment.
This is conciliarism and democratism in its purest form. The bishop, successor of the Apostles, constituted by God to teach, sanctify, and govern (docere, sanctificare, regere), is reduced to a rapporteur for a focus group. The “faithful” — undefined, unformed, potentially heretical — become the authors of the report on the bishop’s own ministry. Pius VI, in Auctorem Fidei (1794), condemned the synod of Pistoia for proposing that “the pastoral care of the faithful is not so much the duty of the bishops as of the parish priests and the people.” Here, the people draft the bishop’s report card. The “collegial assessment” by the Episcopal Conference further erodes the personal responsibility of the bishop before the Pope, replacing it with a collective, parliamentary dynamic. The Syllabus condemns: “National churches, withdrawn from the authority of the Roman pontiff and altogether separated, can be established” (Error 37). The “Episcopal Conference” functioning as a supra-diocesan legislative body is the realization of this error.
Praedicate Evangelium: The Anti-Constitution of the Conciliar Sect
The Report explicitly situates its proposals “in keeping with Pope Francis’ Apostolic Constitution Praedicate Evangelium.” This document (2022) is the constitutional charter of the counter-church. It abolished the supremacy of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (the guardian of orthodoxy) and elevated the Dicastery for Evangelization (the engine of synodality). It enshrined the “synodal” structure into the Roman Curia. The current reports are merely the leges particularis flowing from this lex fundamentalis of apostasy. The Report states the Visit “should not deal exclusively with matters concerning the internal administration of the local Church, but should also support the mission that the Christian community is called to carry out in the world.” The “mission” here is not the missio ad gentes (conversion of souls to the one true Faith), but the “missionary conversion of ordinary pastoral life” — i.e., the imposition of the synodal paradigm on every parish.
The “proposed criterion for evaluation is the conversion achieved in diocesan structures, decision-making processes and relationships among ecclesial subjects.” The criterium evaluationis is no longer fidelity to dogma, sanctity of life, sacramental integrity, or zeal for souls, but “conversion” of structures and processes. This is the heresy of immanentism condemned by St. Pius X in Pascendi Dominici Gregis: the Church becomes a self-referential sociological project.
Independent Ecclesial Commission: Conciliarism Triumphant
The most chilling proposal is the final one: “Finally, an independent ecclesial commission would periodically be established to evaluate the entire process.” An “independent commission” to evaluate the bishops’ ad limina visits? This places the Episcopate under the judgment of a body that is neither the Roman Pontiff (in his primatial authority) nor a General Council (canonically convoked), but a standing committee of the Synod bureaucracy. This is the conciliarist dream realized: the Pope and Bishops subjected to a “Synodal Assembly” or its permanent secretariat. Vatican I defined: “If anyone says that the Roman Pontiff has only the office of inspection or direction… and not full and supreme power of jurisdiction over the universal Church… let him be anathema” (Denz. 1831). The “independent ecclesial commission” is the institutionalization of the anathema.
The Report adds: “Where the Visit has highlighted issues requiring further dialogue, online meetings or visits in loco by representatives of the Curia could be arranged.” The Curia becomes an inspectorate policing the “synodal compliance” of local churches. This is the Gestapo of the new religion.
Symptomatic Conclusion: The Abomination of Desolation in Full Operation
From the perspective of integral Catholic faith, these documents are not “pastoral proposals.” They are the positive law of the antichurch. They manifest the mysterium iniquitatis (mystery of iniquity) described by St. Paul (2 Thess 2:7): the systematic replacement of the hierarchia ordinis (hierarchy of order) with a hierarchia iurisdictionis derived from the “People of God” — a Masonic inversion where authority flows from below.
The “Study Groups” are the committees of the Masonic lodge writing the statutes for the “Church of the New Advent.” The vocabulary — “differentiated co-responsibility,” “relational conversion,” “gender equality,” “accountability indicators,” “independent ecclesial commission,” “transparency,” “participatory bodies” — is the Newspeak of the Masonic ecumene. It is the language of the Civitas Terrena masquerading as the Civitas Dei.
True bishops, validly ordained before 1968 and holding the Catholic Faith entire, have no part in this. They do not attend “Synods on Synodality.” They do not submit “Preliminary Reports” drafted by the laity. They do not sign “Memoranda of Understanding” imposing “gender equality” on nuns. They go ad limina to the true Successor of Peter (wherever he may be in the catacombs) or, in the vacancy, they preserve their jurisdiction ipso facto for the salvation of souls, rejecting the false obedience owed to the usurpers in the Vatican.
As Bellarmine teaches (De Romano Pontifice, cited in the Defense of Sedevacantism): “A manifest heretic cannot be Pope… he cannot be the head of something of which he is not a member.” The authors and promulgators of these reports — from the “Pope” Leo XIV down to the “Cardinal” Grech and the “bishops” of the Study Groups — are manifest heretics, formal Modernists, who have defected from the Catholic Faith (Cum ex Apostolatus Officio, Canon 188.4). They have lost all jurisdiction. Their “operational proposals” are nulla, vacua, et invalida (null, void, and invalid).
The faithful Catholic, sensus fidei intact, reads this Vatican News dispatch not as “news” but as an act of accusation against the occupiers of the Holy See. The structures occupying the Vatican are the “abomination of desolation standing in the holy place” (Matt 24:15). The only “synodal” path is the via crucis of fidelity to Tradition, the Mass of All Time, and the true Hierarchy — outside the camp, bearing His reproach (Heb 13:13).
