The Pillar portal (September 25, 2026) reports on a “Mass of Thanksgiving” celebrated by the “bishop” of Rochester, John Bonnici, for the “beatification” of Archbishop Fulton Sheen, enacted the previous day in St. Louis by the structures occupying the Vatican. Bonnici extols Sheen as a model of “Eucharist-centered evangelization,” highlighting his daily “Holy Hour,” his use of radio and television, and his brief tenure in Rochester implementing “Catholic social teaching.” The “bishop” urges the faithful to imitate Sheen by exploiting modern media—podcasts, phones, social media—to “proclaim the Gospel.” This spectacle exposes the neo-church’s essence: a paramasonic structure manufacturing false saints to legitimize its apostasy, substituting the supernatural mission of the Church with a naturalistic media strategy.
The Nullity of Conciliar “Beatifications”: Usurped Authority Simulating Sanctity
The very concept of a “beatification” performed by the conciliar sect is a juridical and theological nullity. Since the usurpation of the Holy See by John XXIII in 1958, the See of Peter has been vacant (sede vacante). As Pope Paul IV defined in Cum ex Apostolatus Officio (1559), a heretic elevated to the papacy—even by unanimous consent of Cardinals—is “null, void, and of no effect” (nulla, irrita et invalida). The line of antipopes—John XXIII, Paul VI, John Paul I, John Paul II, Benedict XVI, Francis, and now Leo XIV (Robert Prevost)—lacks all jurisdiction. They cannot bind the faithful, define dogma, canonize, or beatify. Their acts are those of private individuals simulating ecclesiastical authority.
St. Robert Bellarmine teaches that a manifest heretic “by that very fact ceases to be Pope and head, just as he ceases to be a Christian and member of the body of the Church” (De Romano Pontifice, lib. 2, cap. 30). The “beatification” of Sheen is thus a theatrical production devoid of the potestas iurisdictionis required for such acts. It serves only to deceive the faithful into believing the neo-church possesses the Church’s sanctifying power. As the Syllabus of Errors condemns: “Roman pontiffs and ecumenical councils have wandered outside the limits of their powers, have usurped the rights of princes, and have even erred in defining matters of faith and morals” (Error 23). Today, the usurpers compound this by fabricating “blesseds” who embody the conciliar revolution.
Sheen: Architect of the Media Apostolate Serving the Conciliar Revolution
Fulton Sheen is presented as a “priest convinced that fruitfulness begins on one’s knees.” The reality is that Sheen was a primary architect of the aggiornamento mentality, using the novel medium of television to acclimate Catholics to a softened, sentimentalized Christianity palatable to the modern world. His program “Life is Worth Living” (1951–1957) and “The Fulton Sheen Program” (1961–1968) projected a Catholicism shorn of extra ecclesiam nulla salus, of the Social Kingship of Christ, of the condemnation of religious liberty and false ecumenism—precisely the errors condemned by Pius IX in the Syllabus (Errors 15, 16, 18, 55, 77, 78, 79, 80) and by St. Pius X in Pascendi Dominici Gregis and Lamentabili Sane Exitu.
Sheen accepted the novelties of Vatican II. As “bishop” of Rochester (1966–1969), he implemented the liturgical revolution, the new ecumenism, and the collegiality that dismantled the divine constitution of the Church. Bonnici’s praise of Sheen’s “commitment to pastoral visits, implementing Catholic social teaching, fostering devotion to the Blessed Mother, and encouraging prayers for vocations” is a litany of conciliar catchphrases. “Catholic social teaching” in the neo-church means the Gaudium et Spes anthropology that subordinates the Church to the world. “Devotion to the Blessed Mother” in the conciliar context means the Lumen Gentium Mariology that subordinates her to the “People of God.” Sheen was not a defender of Tradition; he was a transition figure preparing the faithful for the abomination of the New Mass and the new ecclesiology.
“Evangelization” Reduced to Naturalistic Communication: The Hermeneutic of Worldliness
Bonnici’s exhortation—“Let us not be afraid to use every worldly means to proclaim the Gospel… podcasts, phones, and social media… as venues to share the Gospel”—reveals the naturalistic core of the conciliar “evangelization.” This is the hermeneutic of worldliness condemned by Pius XI in Quas Primas: “When God and Jesus Christ… were removed from laws and states and when authority was derived not from God but from men, the foundations of that authority were destroyed”. The neo-church adopts the world’s tools, the world’s language, the world’s metrics of “reach” and “engagement,” because it has lost the supernatural potestas ordinis and potestas iurisdictionis. It no longer possesses the munus docendi to teach ex cathedra, the munus sanctificandi to offer the True Sacrifice, the munus regendi to govern for eternal salvation. It is reduced to a humanitarian NGO with a religious veneer, using “podcasts” to disseminate a watered-down “Gospel” that offends no one and converts no one.
The Syllabus condemns the proposition: “The civil government… has a right to an indirect negative power over religious affairs… In the case of conflicting laws enacted by the two powers, the civil law prevails” (Errors 41, 42). The conciliar sect, by embracing “religious freedom” (Dignitatis Humanae), has surrendered the Kingship of Christ to the secular state. Its “evangelization” is merely asking permission to exist in the public square on the state’s terms. Sheen’s television persona was the prototype: a Catholic acceptable to Protestants, Jews, and secular America—a “Catholicism” that demands nothing of the social order, that does not proclaim Christus Vincit, Christus Regnat, Christus Imperat.
The “Eucharist” of the New Rite: Idolatry Masquerading as Adoration
Bonnici repeatedly invokes the “Eucharist” and “Eucharistic Holy Hour” as the source of Sheen’s strength. But the “Eucharist” in the conciliar sect is the Novus Ordo Missae, fabricated by the freemason Bugnini and promulgated by the apostate Paul VI in 1969. This rite, stripped of the Roman Canon’s sacrificial theology, the offertory’s propitiatory language, the priest’s orientation ad orientem, the communion on the tongue kneeling—this rite is not the Most Holy Sacrifice of Calvary, but a Protestantized memorial meal, a cena celebrating the “community.” As the Council of Trent anathematizes: “If anyone says that in the Mass a true and proper sacrifice is not offered to God… let him be anathema” (Session XXII, Canon 1).
The “adoration” before the “Blessed Sacrament” in the neo-church is often directed to a host consecrated in a rite of doubtful validity, by “priests” ordained in the invalid 1968 Pontificale Romanum, lacking the intention to do what the Church does (facere quod facit Ecclesia). Even if matter and form were valid, the novus ordo rite manifests a non-Catholic intention—the intention to celebrate a “supper” rather than a sacrifice. St. Alphonsus Liguori teaches that a priest who intends only to signify the Lord’s Supper, not to offer the Sacrifice of the Cross, does not confect the Sacrament. The “Holy Hour” before such a “Eucharist” is, at best, a pious exercise directed to bread; at worst, it is idolatry. Bonnici’s invocation of the “Eucharist” is a semantic hijacking, using Catholic terminology to cloak a false worship.
Silence on the Social Kingship of Christ: Complicity in the Secularist Apostasy
The article’s—and Bonnici’s—total silence on the Social Kingship of Christ is the gravest accusation. Pius XI instituted the Feast of Christ the King precisely to combat “the secularism of our times, so-called laicism, its errors and wicked endeavors” (Quas Primas). He taught: “His reign encompasses not only Catholic nations… but also all non-Christians, so that most truly the entire human race is subject to the authority of Jesus Christ” (quoting Leo XIII, Annum Sacrum). The neo-church, born of the Masonic infiltration denounced by Leo XIII in Humanum Genus (1884) and by Pius IX in the Syllabus (Section IV: “Socialism, Communism, Secret Societies”), has as its primary mission the destruction of the Social Kingship of Christ.
Sheen never publicly defended the integral doctrine of Christ’s Kingship over states. He operated within the Americanist framework of “Church and State separation,” praised by the Masonic lodges. The “beatification” ceremony in a secular stadium (“The Dome at America’s Center”)—not in a cathedral, not with the Traditional Latin Mass, but with a “Mass” facing the people in a sports arena—is the perfect symbol: the neo-church has surrendered the sanctuary to the world. It seeks the world’s applause (an Emmy for Sheen; a stadium “Mass” for his “beatification”). As St. John warns: “If any man love the world, the charity of the Father is not in him” (1 Jn 2:15).
The Symptom: A “Church” That Canonizes Its Own Revolution
The “beatification” of Sheen follows the pattern: John XXIII (usurper), Paul VI (usurper), John Paul II (usurper and architect of Assisi), Mother Teresa (syncretist), Oscar Romero (liberation theologian), John Henry Newman (apostle of doctrinal evolution), Paul VI (again), Romero, etc. Now Sheen—the media priest who made Catholicism “respectable” to the enemies of the Church. Each “canonization” or “beatification” by the antipopes is a political act of the revolution, declaring: This is the new model of sanctity: adaptation to the world, dialogue with error, silence on the Kingship of Christ, acceptance of the new rites.
The true Church, the Ecclesia Militans, persists in the catacombs—in the chapels where the Traditional Latin Mass is offered by bishops and priests retaining valid orders and the Catholic faith (e.g., the Thuc line, the Campos line, and other sedevacantist bishops). There, the Unbloody Sacrifice of Calvary is offered ad Deum, for the gloriam Trinitatis, for the exaltationem Ecclesiae, for the conversionem peccatorum. There, the Social Kingship of Christ is proclaimed. There, the Syllabus is believed. There, Quas Primas is lived.
The “beatification” of Fulton Sheen is not a cause for joy. It is a sign of the times (signum temporum), confirming that the structures in Rome are the abomination of desolation spoken of by Daniel and Our Lord (Mt 24:15). The faithful must flee to the mountains (Mt 24:16)—to the true Mass, the true Sacraments, the true Doctrine, the true Bishops. Non praevalebunt (Mt 16:18). The gates of hell shall not prevail against the Church of Christ—but they have prevailed against the conciliar counterfeit. Sheen’s “beatification” is just another brick in the wall of that counterfeit.
