The Vatican News portal reports that the Dicastery for Interreligious Dialogue, in collaboration with the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Korea, Sogang University, and the Korean Confucian Academy, will convene the first Christian–Confucian Colloquium at Sogang University in Seoul on August 4-5, 2026. Under the theme “New Heaven, New Earth and Datong (Great Harmony, Great Unity): Christian–Confucian Dialogue for Building an Ideal Society,” participants will allegedly explore how Christianity and Confucianism can jointly address social fragmentation, moral uncertainty, environmental degradation, and threats to peace, aiming for continued cooperation in education, ethical formation, and peacebuilding. This initiative constitutes a formal apostasy from the divine mandate of the Church, substituting the supernatural mission of salvation for a naturalistic, Masonic project of universal fraternity devoid of Christ the King.
The Theological Impossibility of Dialogue with False Religions
The very premise of this colloquium—that Christianity and Confucianism share a common ground for “building an ideal society”—is a heretical denial of the unique mediation of Jesus Christ. Pope Pius XI, in Quas Primas (1925), teaches with unshakeable authority: “There is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12). He further declares: “His reign encompasses also all non-Christians, so that most truly the entire human race is subject to the authority of Jesus Christ” (Quas Primas, citing Leo XIII, Annum Sacrum). The Church does not “dialogue” with false religions to build a temporal utopia; she commands them to submit to the Kingship of Christ for their eternal salvation.
Confucianism is not a “religious tradition” capable of partial truth; it is a naturalistic ethical system devoid of supernatural revelation, grace, and the means of salvation. It knows nothing of the Triune God, the Incarnation, the Redemption, or the Sacraments. To place it on a par with the Catholic Faith as a partner in “building an ideal society” is to violate the First Commandment and the dogma Extra Ecclesiam nulla salus. The Syllabus of Errors (1864) explicitly condemns the proposition: “Man may, in the observance of any religion whatever, find the way of eternal salvation, and arrive at eternal salvation” (Error 16), and: “Protestantism is nothing more than another form of the same true Christian religion, in which form it is given to please God equally as in the Catholic Church” (Error 18). A fortiori, Confucianism—a non-Christian, non-revealed philosophy—cannot “please God equally” nor cooperate supernaturally with the Church.
Usurpation of Eschatological Language for Naturalistic Utopianism
The theme “New Heaven, New Earth” (Novum caelum et novam terram, Apoc. 21:1) is blasphemously misappropriated. In Sacred Scripture, this phrase denotes the consummation of all things in Christ at the General Judgment, the definitive establishment of the Civitas Dei where “God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes” (Apoc. 21:4). The colloquium perverts this eschatological hope into a immanentist, humanistic project of “Datong” (Great Harmony)—a Confucian concept of worldly social harmony achieved by human effort, ritual propriety (li), and benevolence (ren), entirely devoid of grace, the Cross, and the Parousia.
This is the quintessence of the “secularism of our times, so-called laicism” condemned by Pius XI in Quas Primas: “It began with the denial of Christ the Lord’s reign over all nations; the Church’s authority to teach men, to issue laws, to govern nations… was denied. And then, slowly, the Christian religion began to be equated with other false religions and shamelessly placed in the same category”. The colloquium is a liturgical act of the new religion of Man, replacing the Social Reign of Christ the King with a Masonic “Great Unity” of religions.
The “Dicastery for Interreligious Dialogue”: An Organ of the Anti-Church
The “Dicastery for Interreligious Dialogue” is a post-conciliar fabrication with zero foundation in Catholic tradition. It did not exist before the Second Vatican Council’s Nostra Aetate (1965). Its very name signals the demotion of the Church from Mater et Magistra to a mere “partner in dialogue”. St. Pius X, in Lamentabili Sane Exitu (1907), condemned the Modernist proposition: “The Church listening cooperates in such a way with the Church teaching in defining truths of faith, that the Church teaching should only approve the common opinions of the Church listening” (Prop. 6). This “Dicastery” institutionalizes that condemned error: it listens to Confucian scholars not to convert them, but to “learn” from them, thereby denying the Church’s munus docendi as the sole custodian of revealed truth.
The “Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Korea” co-sponsoring this event are not true Catholic bishops in the juridical and sacramental sense. Since the usurpation of the Holy See by John XXIII (1958), the episcopal consecrations in the new rite (post-1968) are of doubtful validity, and the men occupying diocesan sees manifestly adhere to the heresies of Vatican II (religious liberty, ecumenism, collegiality). As St. Robert Bellarmine teaches (De Romano Pontifice, cited in the Defense of Sedevacantism file): “A manifest heretic… by that very fact ceases to be Pope and head, just as he ceases to be a Christian and member of the body of the Church”. Those who communion with and recognize the antipopes (John XXIII through Leo XIV) as legitimate vicars of Christ are themselves separated from the Church. Their “conference” is a synod of the neo-church, a conventiculum of the abomination of desolation.
Sogang University: A Jesuit Fortress of Modernism
Sogang University, the venue, is a Jesuit institution. The Society of Jesus, once the vanguard of the Counter-Reformation, has been the primary engine of Modernism since the 20th century. St. Pius X’s Pascendi Dominici Gregis (1907) identified the Modernist method: “Under the guise of more serious criticism and in the name of historical method, they aim at such a development of dogmas as appears to be their corruption”. The colloquium at a Jesuit university is the fulfillment of the Modernist program: the corruption of the dogma of the Church’s uniqueness and the substitution of a “dialogue of civilizations” for the missio ad gentes.
Silence on the Supernatural: The Gravest Accusation
The press release omits entirely any reference to the supernatural order: no mention of sin, grace, redemption, the Sacraments, the Last Judgment, Heaven, Hell, or the necessity of Baptism for salvation (John 3:5). The “challenges” listed—social fragmentation, moral uncertainty, environmental degradation, threats to peace—are purely temporal, naturalistic concerns. This is the heresy of humanitarianism condemned by Pius XI: “When God and Jesus Christ… were removed from laws and states and when authority was derived not from God but from men, the foundations of that authority were destroyed” (Quas Primas, citing Ubi Arcano).
The goal of “continued Christian–Confucian cooperation in the fields of education, ethical formation, and peacebuilding” is a blueprint for a Godless world order. “Ethical formation” without the Decalogue, without Christ the Lawgiver (Quas Primas: “Christ Jesus is given to men as Redeemer… but at the same time He is the Lawgiver, to whom men owe obedience”), is Pelagian moralism. “Peacebuilding” without the Pax Christi in Regno Christi is the peace of the world which Christ explicitly rejected (John 14:27: “Not as the world giveth, do I give unto you”).
The Masonic Signature: “Datong” and Universal Fraternity
The inclusion of “Datong” (大同, Great Harmony/Unity)—a Confucian utopian concept of a world unified by virtue and ritual—alongside the Christian eschaton is a deliberate syncretic fusion. This mirrors the Masonic project of a “universal republic” where all religions are leveled as servants of a humanitarian ideal. The False Fatima Apparitions file identifies the strategy: “Stage 3 (1958-2000): Takeover of the narrative by modernists, concealment of the Third Secret, ecumenical reinterpretation”. This colloquium is Stage 4: the institutionalization of religious indifferentism as the operating system of the neo-church.
The name “Sogang” (Western River) and the location “Seoul” are incidental; the structure of the event—Vatican dicastery + episcopal conference + Jesuit university + non-Christian academy—is the replicable template for the one-world religion foretold by the prophets of the Great Apostasy (2 Thess. 2:3-4).
Canon 188.4 and the Automatic Vacancy of the Promoters
Canon 188.4 of the 1917 Code states: “Every office becomes vacant by the mere fact and without any declaration… if the cleric: 4. Publicly defects from the Catholic faith”. The organizers and participants of this colloquium—by treating Confucianism as a salvifically valid partner, by denying the necessity of the Church for salvation, by substituting the Kingship of Christ with “Datong”—publicly defect from the Catholic Faith. They lose all jurisdiction ipso facto. As Pope Celestine I declared regarding Nestorius: “He could not remove anyone by sentence who himself had already shown that he must be removed” (cited in Defense of Sedevacantism). The “bishops” of Korea, the “prefect” of the Dicastery, the “rector” of Sogang: all have vacated their offices by the very act of convening this abomination.
Conclusion: The Duty of the Faithful Remnant
This colloquium is not a “pastoral initiative”; it is a sacrilegious parody of the Church’s mission. It fulfills the prophecy of Lamentabili Sane: “Contemporary Catholicism cannot be reconciled with true knowledge without transforming it into a certain dogmaless Christianity, that is, into a broad and liberal Protestantism” (Prop. 65)—here expanded into a dogmaless universalism embracing Confucianism.
The true Church, Ecclesia Militans, endures in the faithful who profess the integral Catholic Faith, adhere to the pre-1958 Magisterium, reject the antipopes and their structures, and await the restoration of the Social Reign of Christ the King. They anathemetize this colloquium with St. Paul: “But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach a gospel to you besides that which we have preached to you, let him be anathema” (Gal. 1:8). The only “New Heaven and New Earth” is the Kingdom of Christ; the only “Datong” is the Unity of the Church in the Bond of Charity (Eph. 4:3-6). Christus vincit, Christus regnat, Christus imperat.
