The EWTN News portal (September 2, 2026) reports on a homily delivered by Silvio Báez, the exiled auxiliary “bishop” of Managua, at the conciliar “St. Agatha Parish” in Miami on August 30, 2026. Báez, a functionary of the neo-church appointed by the antipope John Paul II and recently confirmed in his role by the usurper “Leo XIV” (Robert Prevost), contrasts the Nicaraguan dictatorship of Ortega-Murillo with the “authentic example of self-sacrifice given by Jesus Christ,” asserting that “worn-out dictatorships… never speak of the cross.” The cited homily reduces the Mystery of the Cross to a horizontal metaphor for social activism and “speaking truth to power,” entirely silencing the Social Reign of Christ the King and the necessity of the Catholic Church’s divine authority over nations—the very omission that exposes the conciliar sect’s capitulation to the condemned errors of liberalism and naturalism.
The Invalid Ministry of a Conciliar Functionary
The article presents Báez as a legitimate “auxiliary bishop of Managua since 2009,” forced into exile in 2019 “at the request of Pope Francis” and “confirmed in his role as auxiliary bishop of Managua, albeit in exile” by “Pope Leo XIV” in August 2025. From the perspective of integral Catholic theology, this entire ecclesiastical pedigree is null and void. The line of usurpers occupying the Vatican since 1958—beginning with John XXIII—has forfeited the papacy by manifest heresy, ipso facto severing themselves from the Mystical Body of Christ. As St. Robert Bellarmine teaches in De Romano Pontifice: “A Pope who is a manifest heretic, by that very fact ceases to be Pope and head, just as he ceases to be a Christian and member of the body of the Church.” The “Defense of Sedevacantism” file confirms: “A manifest heretic cannot be Pope or a member of the Church… A non-Christian in no way can be Pope… therefore, a manifest heretic cannot be Pope.”
Consequently, the “ordination” and “episcopal consecration” of Báez within the new rites—promulgated by the anti-liturgical revolution of Paul VI—are at best doubtful, at worst invalid, and in any case confer no jurisdiction in the true Church. His “confirmation” by the current usurper “Leo XIV” (Prevost) adds nothing but another layer of canonical nullity. He is a layman functioning as a hireling within the paramasonic structure occupying the Vatican, exercising a pseudo-ministry that deceives the faithful. The “St. Agatha Parish” where he celebrates is not a Catholic parish but a conciliar assembly center where the Unbloody Sacrifice of Calvary has been replaced by a Protestantized “table of assembly,” rendering the “Mass” he celebrates a simulation, if not an idolatry.
Reduction of the Cross to Horizontal Philanthropy
The linguistic and theological core of Báez’s homily is a masterclass in Modernist immanentism. He declares: “Taking up the cross means humbling ourselves to enter the world of the poor and the victims in order to stand with them, share in their anguish, and restore the dignity and hope that God desires for them.” And again: “Taking up the cross means accepting the consequences, almost always painful, of striving to eliminate the suffering of those whom society crucifies, just as Jesus did.”
“Taking up the cross does not merely mean ‘accepting setbacks and suffering. The cross is the price of all authentic love’; rather, it also refers to ‘choosing a life like Jesus’, overcoming the fear of loving, loving without limits, and becoming weak and vulnerable out of love.'”
This is not Catholic theology; it is secular humanism baptized with Christian vocabulary. The Cross of Christ is propitiatory sacrifice—Hostia pro peccatis—offered to the Father for the remission of sins and the restoration of the supernatural order. It is not primarily a socio-political program for “eliminating suffering” or “restoring dignity” in a temporal sense. By stripping the Cross of its soteriological and expiatory essence—Satisfactio superna—and reducing it to “solidarity with victims,” Báez echoes the condemned proposition of Lamentabili Sane Exitu (Prop. 38): “The teaching on the death of Christ for the redemption of men is not an evangelical teaching, but only Pauline.” He preaches a “Christ” who is merely a model of humanitarian self-giving, denying the Veritas Catholica that “Christ… offered Himself as a sacrifice for our sins and eternally offers it” (Pius XI, Quas Primas).
Silence on the Social Reign of Christ the King
The gravest accusation against this homily is its silentio clamans—its screaming silence regarding the Social Kingship of Christ. Báez condemns the Ortega regime for “profaning the name of Jesus” and “attributing to him the dominion they exercise over the people.” Yet he offers no alternative supernatural framework. He does not proclaim that Christ the King has absolute rights over Nicaragua, its laws, its constitution, and its rulers. He does not denounce the regime as tyrannus because it violates the Lex Divina and the Rights of the Church (Canon 188.4, Cum ex Apostolatus Officio, Quas Primas). He does not call for the Consecration of the Nation to the Sacred Heart as commanded by Pius XI (Quas Primas: “We also decree that on the same day each year the consecration to the Heart of Jesus be renewed”), nor does he invoke the Regnum Christi as the only remedy for the “plague that poisons human society”—laicism and secularism (Quas Primas).
Pius XI teaches unequivocally: “His reign encompasses also all non-Christians, so that most truly the entire human race is subject to the authority of Jesus Christ… Let rulers of states therefore not refuse public veneration and obedience to the reigning Christ… if they wish to maintain their authority inviolate.” The Syllabus of Errors (Pius IX) condemns the proposition: “The Church ought to be separated from the State, and the State from the Church” (Error 55) and “In the present day it is no longer expedient that the Catholic religion should be held as the only religion of the State” (Error 77).
Báez, operating fully within the conciliar paradigm of Dignitatis Humanae and Gaudium et Spes, cannot condemn the dictatorship on theological grounds because the neo-church has abdicated the Kingship of Christ over temporal society. His critique remains trapped in the naturalistic category of “authoritarianism” vs. “democracy,” “human rights” vs. “abuses of the powerful.” This is the heresy of Americanism and Liberal Catholicism condemned by Leo XIII and St. Pius X: the substitution of the Civitas Dei for the Civitas Terrena governed by “consensus” rather than Lex Dei.
Complicity with the Errors of Liberalism and Religious Liberty
The article notes that the “pro-government news media El 19 Digital proclaims the country is governed in a Christian manner.” Báez responds not by anathematizing this sacrilegious usurpation of the Christian name by a socialist tyranny (condemned in Syllabus, Section IV: “Socialism, Communism, Secret Societies… Pests of this kind are frequently reprobated in the severest terms”), but by offering a rival naturalistic reading of Christianity: a Christianity of “littleness,” “self-forgetfulness,” and “justice” divorced from Veritas and Sacramentum.
He speaks of a “world built on lies” where “those who speak the truth are persecuted,” yet he serves a “pope” (“Francis,” “Leo XIV”) who has declared that “proselytism is solemn nonsense” and signed the Document on Human Fraternity (Abu Dhabi 2019), proclaiming that “the pluralism and the diversity of religions… are willed by God in His wisdom”—a formal apostasy against the First Commandment and the dogma Extra Ecclesiam nulla salus. Báez’s “exile” is not a confession of the Faith in its integrity (he accepts the “Second Vatican Council,” the New Mass, religious liberty, ecumenism), but a factional dispute within the Masonic dialectic: the “left-wing” dictatorship vs. the “right-wing” neo-church hierarchy. Both serve the Synagogue of Satan described by Pius IX in the Syllabus preamble: “It is from them that the synagogue of Satan, which gathers its troops against the Church of Christ, takes its strength.”
The Symptomatic Nature of the Conciliar “Resistance”
This episode is symptomatic of the total bankruptcy of the conciliar “resistance.” The “bishops” and “priests” of the neo-church—whether “exiled” like Báez or “collaborating” like the Ortega-appointed hierarchy—share the same Modernist DNA. They have accepted the hermeneutic of rupture disguised as “continuity.” They have accepted the new ecclesiology (Church as “People of God” pilgrim in history, Lamentabili Prop. 53: “The organic structure of the Church is subject to change… subject to continuous evolution”). They have accepted the new Christology (Christ as mere man “evolving” in consciousness, Lamentabili Props. 27-35).
When Báez says: “Jesus, however, teaches us that things change only when we choose the path of littleness and self-forgetfulness; only when we sacrifice ourselves to put God and others first,” he preaches a Pelagian moralism. Salus animarum comes not from our “sacrifices” but from the Precious Blood applied through the True Sacraments administered by Valid Priests under True Bishops in communion with the True Pope—none of which exist in the structures he represents.
The faithful in Nicaragua do not need a “bishop” who flees to Miami to preach social justice from a conciliar pulpit. They need the Catholic Church: the Tridentine Mass, the Catechism of Trent, the Syllabus, the Quas Primas, the Pascendi, and bishops who teach “all power in heaven and on earth has been given to Him” (Matt 28:18) and therefore all laws contrary to His Law are null and void (Quas Primas: “When God and Jesus Christ… were removed from laws and states… the foundations of that authority were destroyed”).
Until the conciliar sect is recognized for what it is—the abomination of desolation in the holy place (Matt 24:15)—and the faithful separate themselves completely from its “sacraments,” its “bishops,” and its “popes” to adhere to the Tradition preserved by validly ordained priests holding the Sedevacantist position, Nicaragua will remain under the double yoke of the Masonic dictatorship and the Masonic “opposition,” both serving the same Master of Lies.
