Conciliar Hierarchy Commemorates 9/11 with Naturalistic Humanism, Silence on Christ’s Kingship

The National Catholic Register portal (September 10, 2026) reports on the statements of the conciliar hierarchy in the United States marking the twenty-fifth anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. The article catalogues the remarks of “Archbishop” Ronald Hicks of New York, “Archbishop” Timothy Broglio of the Military Services, “Archbishop” Paul Coakley (president of the USCCB), “Archbishop” William Lori of Baltimore, “Bishop” Frank Caggiano of Bridgeport, and the Ukrainian Catholic “Bishops” of the United States. Their discourse is uniformly characterized by therapeutic language, naturalistic solidarity, and a conspicuous absence of the supernatural mission of the Church. The thesis is undeniable: the conciliar sect has reduced the commemoration of a grave historical evil to a civic pep rally, utterly devoid of the regnum Christi and the necessity of conversion for salvation.

The Conciliar Sect’s Counterfeit Liturgy for a Secular Catastrophe

The article details a series of liturgical events: an “invitation-only vigil Mass” at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York by “Archbishop” Hicks; a Mass at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington by “Archbishop” Broglio; various diocesan Masses. These are not the Sanctissimum Sacrificium, the Unbloody Sacrifice of Calvary, but the fabricated Novus Ordo Missae of Paul VI, a rite engineered by the Freemason Bugnini to Protestantize the liturgy and obliterate the propitiatory nature of the Mass. When “Archbishop” Hicks “celebrates” this rite to “remember those who died” and “mourn with their loved ones,” he performs a religious simulation. The Council of Trent anathematizes those who deny that the Mass is a true and proper sacrifice offered for the living and the dead (Session XXII, Can. 1). The conciliar “Mass” is a cena, a memorial meal, stripped of the Canon Romanus, the Offertory of the Victim, and the explicit invocation of the Holy Ghost to change bread and wine into the Body and Blood of Christ. To offer this counterfeit rite for the repose of souls is to mock the justice and mercy of God.

Naturalistic Anthropology: “Courage,” “Resilience,” and “Healing” Replace Grace and Conversion

The vocabulary of the conciliar “bishops” is telling. “Archbishop” Hicks speaks of “extraordinary courage, service, sacrifice, and compassion.” Cardinal Egan (d. 2015) is quoted: “the extraordinary goodness of our people has marched alongside the pain.” “Bishop” Bonnici lauds “genuine kindness and fraternal love.” “Bishop” Caggiano extols “resilience” and a therapeutic “mercy” that is “a deliberate decision… sometimes one that must be made again and again over years.” This is the language of secular humanism, of the Red Cross, of the United Nations. It is pelagianism disguised as piety.

Pius XI, in Quas Primas (1925), condemns this precise error: “When God and Jesus Christ… were removed from laws and states and when authority was derived not from God but from men, the foundations of that authority were destroyed.” The conciliar hierarchy derives its authority from the “spirit of the age,” from the democratic ethos, from the “consensus of the faithful.” They speak of “healing” as a psychological process, not as the restoration of the soul to status gratiae through the Sacrament of Penance. They speak of “sacrifice” as the death of firefighters, not as the Hostia immaculata offered on the altar. This is the “laicism” Pius XI identified as “the plague that poisons human society.”

The Silence on the Social Kingship of Christ: High Treason Against the King of Kings

Not one of the quoted “bishops” mentions the Social Kingship of Christ. Not one cites Quas Primas. Not one declares that the only remedy for the “terrible reality of the capacity of fallen humanity for evil” (Ukrainian “Bishops”) is the subjection of all nations to the Dulce imperium of Christ the King. Pius XI teaches: “His reign encompasses not only Catholic nations… but His reign encompasses also all non-Christians, so that most truly the entire human race is subject to the authority of Jesus Christ.” The Syllabus of Errors (1864) condemns the proposition: “The Church is not a true and perfect society… but it appertains to the civil power to define what are the rights of the Church” (Error 19). The conciliar “bishops” act as chaplains to the civil power. They bless the “Tribute in Light,” they sanctify the “new skyline,” they endorse the civic religion of the American empire. They do not call the United States to recognize the reign of our Savior; they call Catholics to be “instruments of peace in an increasingly fractured and divided world” (“Archbishop” Coakley).

This “peace” is the pax romana of the Masonic city of man, not the pax Christi in regno Christi. “Archbishop” Coakley echoes the antipope Leo XIV (Robert Prevost): “peace ‘is more than just a goal, it is a presence and a journey.'” This is the heresy of the “Church of the New Advent”: peace as immanent process, not as the tranquillitas ordinis imposed by the King of Kings. St. Augustine defines peace as tranquillitas ordinis — the tranquility of order. That order is the hierarchy of being: God, the Church, the State, the family, the individual. The conciliar sect inverts this order: the State dictates to the Church, the individual judges the Magisterium, and “dialogue” replaces missio ad gentes.

Ecumenism and Interreligious Indifferentism: The “Ukrainian Catholic Bishops” and the Betrayal of Extra Ecclesiam Nulla Salus

The pastoral letter of the “Ukrainian Catholic Bishops of the United States” is a masterpiece of conciliar indifferentism. They speak of “strangers helping strangers,” “firefighters climbing stairways,” “churches filling with worshippers,” “a nation and the entire world coming together in grief and solidarity.” They quote St. Paul: “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good” (Rom 12:21). But they omit the context: this victory over evil is achieved in Christo, through the armor of God (Eph 6:11), not through interfaith vigils.

The Syllabus condemns: “Man may, in the observance of any religion whatever, find the way of eternal salvation” (Error 16). The “Ukrainian Catholic Bishops” imply that the “worshippers” filling “churches” (mosques? synagogues? Protestant assemblies?) were all praying to the same God. This is the “ecumenism project” denounced in the False Fatima Apparitions document: “The imprecise formulation ‘conversion of Russia’ (without specifying Catholicism) opens the way to religious relativism.” Here, the imprecise invocation of “God” without Filioque, without the Trinity, without the Incarnation, legitimizes the worship of false gods. The 9/11 attackers acted in nomine Allah. The conciliar hierarchy refuses to name Islam as a false religion, a “sect of the Antichrist” (St. John Damascene), a diabolical parody of revelation. To be silent on this is to be complicit in the damnation of souls. Qui tacet consentire videtur (he who is silent appears to consent).

The “Mercy” of the Conciliar Sect: Vengeance Against Divine Justice

“Bishop” Caggiano’s discourse on “mercy” is the most insidious. “Justice without mercy becomes vengeance, and mercy without justice becomes indulgence.” This is a false dichotomy, a Modernist distortion. In Catholic theology, Misericordia non tollit justitiam, sed complet justitiam (mercy does not abolish justice, but fulfills it). The mercy of God is the gratuitous gift of the Satisfactio of Christ on the Cross, applied through the Sacraments. It is not a “deliberate decision” of the human will to “refuse to let that wound dictate the rest of a life.” That is Stoicism, not Christianity.

The “mercy” of the conciliar sect is the mercy of the world: therapeutic forgiveness, psychological closure, the refusal to judge. It is the mercy that refuses to call the 9/11 attackers enemies of God, that refuses to demand their conversion, that refuses to proclaim that extra Ecclesiam nulla salus. It is the mercy of the Antichrist, who “opens his mouth in blasphemies against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven” (Apoc 13:6). True mercy is to warn the sinner: Convertimini, quoniam appropinquavit regnum caelorum (Mt 4:17). The conciliar “bishops” offer opium, not the Cross.

The Usurpers in the Vatican and the Invalidity of the Conciliar Hierarchy

The article references “Pope Leo XIV” as a moral authority. Robert Prevost is a manifest heretic, a usurper of the See of Peter. By the teaching of St. Robert Bellarmine (De Romano Pontifice, Lib. II, Cap. 30), a manifest heretic “by that very fact ceases to be Pope and head.” By the Bull Cum ex Apostolatus Officio of Paul IV, the promotion of a heretic to the papacy is “null, void, and of no effect.” By Canon 188.4 of the 1917 Code, a cleric who “publicly defects from the Catholic faith” loses his office ipso facto. The conciliar “bishops” derive their “jurisdiction” from this antipope. They are, therefore, intrusi, intruders, wolves in sheep’s clothing.

The example of Nestorius, cited in the Defense of Sedevacantism file, is decisive. Pope Celestine I declared that Nestorius “had already brought the divine judgment upon himself” and “could not remove anyone by sentence who himself had already shown that he must be removed.” The conciliar “bishops” have shown themselves to be modernists, heretics, apostates by their adherence to Vatican II, the Novus Ordo, religious liberty, ecumenism, and collegiality. They possess no jurisdiction. Their “Masses” are sacrileges. Their “blessings” are curses. Their “pastoral letters” are instruments of deception.

The Masonic Architecture of the Commemoration

The “Tribute in Light — twin shafts of light soaring skyward” — is a Masonic symbol. The False Fatima Apparitions document notes the “Symbolism of dates: 1717 (founding of Freemasonry), 1917 (apparitions), 2017 (canonization) — ritualistic 200-year cycles.” The 9/11 attacks themselves, whether permitted by Providence as a chastisement or engineered by the “synagogue of Satan” (Pius IX, Syllabus context), serve the Masonic dialectic: thesis (Western decadence), antithesis (Islamic terrorism), synthesis (global totalitarianism under the “Prince of this world”). The conciliar hierarchy, far from exposing this, sanctifies it. They transform Ground Zero into a civic shrine, the “basilica” of the new civil religion. “Archbishop” Lori’s “relentless, agonizing search through the rubble” and “agonizing weeks of funerals” are narrated as a secular passion play, with the “bishops” as the priests of the new cult. The victims are the new “martyrs” of freedom and democracy — the false gods of the Masonic city.

Conclusion: The Conciliar Sect is the Abomination of Desolation

The article from the National Catholic Register is not a report on Catholic bishops commemorating a tragedy. It is a documentary record of the abominatio desolationis standing in the holy place (Mt 24:15). The conciliar “bishops” — Hicks, Broglio, Coakley, Lori, Caggiano, the Ukrainian “Bishops” — are hirelings who flee at the sight of the wolf (Jn 10:12). They offer the faithful not the Bread of Life, but the stones of naturalism (Mt 7:9). They preach not the Kingdom of Christ, but the kingdom of man. They invoke not the Trinity, but the vague “God” of the deists.

True Catholics, adhering to the immutable Tradition, the Magisterium of Pius IX, Leo XIII, St. Pius X, Pius XI, Pius XII, reject this entire spectacle. We do not “remember” 9/11 with the conciliar sect. We mourn the dead by offering the true Mass of the Ages for the repose of their souls, pro quibus tibi offerimus, vel qui tibi offerunt hoc sacrificium laudis. We pray for the conversion of the United States to the Catholic Faith, for the restoration of the Social Kingship of Christ, for the end of the Masonic empire. We recognize no “bishops” but those validly ordained in the apostolic succession who hold the integral Faith and reject the conciliar apostasy. Non praevalebunt (Mt 16:18). The gates of hell shall not prevail against the true Church, which subsists in the remnant that keeps the Faith of the Fathers.
