YOUCAT Love Forever: Neo-Church’s Naturalistic Marriage Manual Replaces Supernatural Sacrament

Vatican News portal reports on the presentation in Rome of “YOUCAT Love Forever,” a new publication from the YOUCAT Foundation billed as a “marriage handbook for young people” and a “roadmap” for life decisions. The event, held October 6, 2026, at the Centro Internazionale Giovanile San Lorenzo, featured “Archbishop” John Joseph Kennedy of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith, YOUCAT creator Bernhard Meuser, “Fr.” Joseph Fessio SJ, and representatives of Aid to the Church in Need. The volume bears a foreword by the current usurper “Pope” Leo XIV and an epilogue by his predecessor “Pope” Francis. Meuser admits the project was reignited by Francis’s demand for a “marriage catechumenate,” while Kennedy declares the Church “is not telling young people to bury their desires” but to “fulfil it according to his plan.” This publication is not a catechism but a surrender: it replaces the sacramentum tantum of Matrimony — its indissoluble bond, its procreative telos, its elevation by Christ to a sign of His union with the Church — with a therapeutic manual for “desires” and “relationship stages,” confirming the conciliar sect’s reduction of the Mysterium Fidei to anthropological self-help.

The “Roadmap” to Nowhere: Substitution of Supernatural Vocation with Naturalistic Accompaniment

The cited article reveals the entire theological framework of this neo-catechetical enterprise: “the Church is saying that your desire to love is something true, something real, that it comes from God, and that God wants you to fulfil it according to his plan.” Here the primacy of the subjective “desire” is elevated above the objective order of grace. Archbishop Kennedy’s rhetoric — “roadmap,” “guide,” “important life decisions,” “ask your questions, even the hard ones” — belongs to the genre of life-coaching, not the magisterium of the Church. The Catechismus Romanus teaches that Matrimony is a sacramentum novae legis instituted by Christ to confer grace for a lifelong, indissoluble union ordered to the procreation and education of offspring and the mutual sanctification of the spouses (Catech. Rom., De Sacramento Matrimonii). The neo-church’s “handbook” inverts this: it starts from the “needs” and “questions” of young people, not from the depositum fidei.

Pius XI in Quas Primas (1925) declares: “Peace is only possible in the kingdom of Christ” — Pax Christi in regno Christi — and that this Kingdom demands “that all relations in the state be ordered on the basis of God’s commandments and Christian principles, both in the issuing of laws and in the administration of justice, as well as in the education and formation of youth in sound doctrine and purity of morals.” The “YOUCAT Love Forever” project, by contrast, orders formation to the subjective “desire to love” and the psychological “stages of a relationship,” making the sacrament a mere ratification of human sentiment. This is the laicism Pius XI condemned: “the denial of Christ the Lord’s reign over all nations… the Church’s authority to teach men, to issue laws, to govern nations… was denied.” The conciliar sect does not teach; it “accompanies.”

“Marriage Catechumenate”: The Modernist Trojan Horse

Meuser explicitly states: “the Argentine pontiff ‘said we urgently need a marriage catechumenate. So, we started the project for the second time.'” This phrase — “marriage catechumenate” — is a post-conciliar novelty unknown to Tradition. The Catechismus Trentensis knows only the catechumenatus for unbaptized adults preparing for Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist. To speak of a “catechumenate” for the baptized preparing for Matrimony implies that the baptized are not yet fully Christian, that they require a new initiation, that the sacraments of initiation are insufficient. This is the heresy of the “baptism of desire” extended to the sacramental order: it suggests grace is mediated by a process of “discernment” and “accompaniment” rather than ex opere operato through the valid matter and form administered by a valid minister.

The Syllabus of Pius IX (1864) condemns: “The Church has not the power of defining dogmatically that the religion of the Catholic Church is the only true religion” (Error 21) and “The decrees of the Apostolic See and of the Roman congregations impede the true progress of science” (Error 12). The “marriage catechumenate” is a capitulation to the modernist error that doctrine must “evolve” to meet “the needs of today’s world.” Meuser admits the team was “flooded by questions and testimonies from couples, singles, psychologists, priests and religious, and theologians” from “more than 30 countries.” Since when does the sensus fidelium include psychologists and “singles” as normative sources for sacramental theology? This is the democratization of revelation condemned by St. Pius X in Lamentabili sane exitu (1907): “The Church listening cooperates in such a way with the Church teaching in defining truths of faith, that the Church teaching should only approve the common opinions of the Church listening” (Condemned Prop. 6).

The “Feeling” of Love vs. The Virtue of Charity

Meuser identifies “the greatest problem now is the condition that people let in the mainstream or false idea of love. [Namely that] love is a kind of feeling that lasts as long as the feelings are strong. This is not the Christian idea of love.” He correctly diagnoses the symptom but his remedy is the disease. The “YOUCAT” series, from its inception in 2011, has been a phenomenological reduction of the Faith: it presents doctrine as “answers to questions” rather than as truths revealed by God to be believed de fide. By framing the Christian idea of love as a correction to a “false idea” rather than as a participation in the very life of the Trinity (1 Jn 4:16), the book remains on the naturalistic plane. True Christian love is caritas, a theological virtue infused by the Holy Ghost (Rom 5:5), not a “freer version of a kind of Catechism” or a “marriage handbook.”

St. Thomas Aquinas teaches: Caritas est amicitia quaedam hominis ad Deum (ST II-II, q. 23, a. 1) — charity is a friendship of man with God, founded on the communication of eternal life. The conciliar sect’s “love” is eros baptized, philia psychologized. The article’s language — “guide young people on their faith journey,” “make many important life decisions,” “you were created for love” — is existentialist personalism (Wojtyla, Rahner), not Catholic theology. It omits entirely: sin, concupiscence, the necessity of the state of grace, the indissolubility of the bond (Can. 1141), the primary end of marriage (procreation), the subjection of the wife to the husband (Eph 5:22), the duty of Christian parents to educate children for heaven, not for “fulfilment.” Silence on these is the gravest accusation.

The Usurpers’ Imprimatur: Leo XIV and Francis

The volume bears a foreword by “Pope” Leo XIV (Robert Prevost) and an epilogue by “Pope” Francis (Jorge Bergoglio). According to the sedevacantist thesis, grounded in the teaching of St. Robert Bellarmine (De Romano Pontifice, lib. 2, cap. 30) and confirmed by Canon 188.4 of the 1917 Code: “A Pope who is a manifest heretic, by that very fact ceases to be Pope and head… he ceases to be a Christian and member of the body of the Church.” Bellarmine: “A manifest heretic cannot be Pope. It cannot be objected that the character remains in him… The Fathers teach universally that a heretic, because of heresy and independently of excommunication, is deprived of all jurisdiction and power.” Both usurpers are manifest heretics: Francis by Amoris Laetitia (admitting the divorced and “remarried” to “Communion”), by Fiducia Supplicans (blessing sodomitical unions), by his denial of the necessity of the Catholic Church for salvation; Leo XIV by his public adherence to the conciliar errors of religious liberty, ecumenism, and collegiality. Their names on this book confer no authority whatsoever; they are the signatures of the abominatio desolationis standing in the holy place (Mt 24:15).

Pope Paul IV’s Bull Cum ex Apostolatus Officio (1559) declares: “…if at any time it shall appear that any Bishop… or even the Roman Pontiff… has defected from the Catholic Faith or fallen into some heresy: (i) his promotion or elevation… shall be null, void, and of no effect.” The 1917 Code references this Bull 19 times. The “foreword” and “epilogue” are thus the waste paper of antipopes, adding the weight of their apostasy to a work already devoid of Catholic doctrine.

YOUCAT: A Product of the Conciliar Revolution

The original YOUCAT (2011) was commissioned by the “Congregation for Bishops” under the usurper Benedict XVI (Ratzinger), who called it a “precious help” for youth. It was praised by the “Pontifical Council for the New Evangelization.” Its methodology — question-and-answer format, colloquial language, selective citation, omission of “hard sayings” — is the catechesis by dialogue condemned implicitly by Pius XI: “the annual celebration of sacred mysteries is far more effective than even the most serious proofs of the teaching Church; for these are usually accessible only to a small number of learned men, but those engage and instruct all the faithful.” The “teaching Church” (Ecclesia docens) teaches ex cathedra; she does not “dialogue” with the “listening Church” to discover what the faithful “need.” Lamentabili condemns: “The Church, in condemning errors, has no right to require any internal assent from the faithful to the pronouncements issued by the Church” (Condemned Prop. 7). YOUCAT inverts the relation: the faithful’s “questions” set the agenda.

Fr. Joseph Fessio SJ, founder of Ignatius Press and “YOUCAT’s publishing partner since its beginning,” is a public defender of the Novus Ordo and the conciliar “reforms.” His presence signals the indult/FSSPX-adjacent wing of the neo-church endorsing this product. The “Archbishop” Kennedy, as Secretary of the “Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith” (the renamed Holy Office, stripped of its inquisitorial function by Paul VI), presiding at a “Mass” in a “youth center” rather than a consecrated church, manifests the total displacement of the sacred by the pedagogical.

Gender Ideology and Sexual Morality: The “Questions” That Drive the Text

Meuser admits: “they ran into a number of questions about how to address the different opinions globally regarding sexual morality, gender ideology, and similar issues.” The phrase “different opinions globally” reveals the relativism at the heart of the project. The Church does not “address opinions”; she condemns errors. Pius IX’s Syllabus condemns: “Every man is free to embrace and profess that religion which, guided by the light of reason, he shall consider true” (Error 15) and “Man may, in the observance of any religion whatever, find the way of eternal salvation” (Error 16). Applied to sexual morality: the neo-church treats the lex naturalis and the lex divina as “opinions” to be “addressed” pastorally. This is the hermeneutic of “accompaniment” that produced Amoris Laetitia Chapter 8.

The article states: “YOUCAT Love Forever responds to the concerns young people have in the context of the world today. It offers an understandable and practical Church-based view of love.” “Church-based view” — not the Church’s teaching. “Understandable and practical” — the criteria of pragmatism, not of veritas. St. Pius X in Pascendi Dominici Gregis (1907) identifies the modernist method: “They make the religious sense the foundation of faith… they make the religious sentiment the rule of faith.” YOUCAT is a textbook of this method.

The “Little Stone in a Great Wall”: False Humility, Real Subversion

Meuser’s closing metaphor — “It is ‘a little stone in a great wall,’ he said. ‘We cannot change the world’ with it, but rather ‘invite people to reach the ideal.'” — is a calculated minimization. The “great wall” is the edifice of the conciliar counter-church, built stone by stone since 1958: the New Mass, the new catechisms, the new ecumenism, the new religious liberty, the new “synodality.” Each “little stone” — YOUCAT, DOCAT, YOUCAT Love Forever — cements the apostasy. The “ideal” they invite to is not the sanctitas of the Council of Trent, but the ideal of the Kingdom of Man — a world where “desires” are “fulfilled,” where “love” is a “journey,” where the Cross is a “roadmap” to self-actualization.

Pius XI in Quas Primas warns: “When God and Jesus Christ… were removed from laws and states and when authority was derived not from God but from men, the foundations of that authority were destroyed, because the main reason why some have the right to command and others have the duty to obey was removed.” The neo-church’s “marriage handbook” removes God’s law from marriage, replacing it with the “desires” of the spouses, “guided” by a “roadmap” written by committees of psychologists and “theologians” under the auspices of antipopes. This is not a catechism; it is a civil code for the religion of humanity.

Conclusion: Return to the Catechism of Trent

The only “marriage handbook” the Catholic Church has ever needed is the Catechismus ad Parochos of St. Pius V (1566), which teaches: “Matrimony is a sacrament of the New Law, instituted by Christ our Lord, by which a man and a woman are joined in an indissoluble bond… The principal end of marriage is the procreation and education of children for the worship of God… The secondary end is mutual help and the remedy of concupiscence.” It teaches the impedimenta dirimentia, the forma sacramenti, the minister, the gratia sacramentalis — all absent from YOUCAT’s “freer version.”

The faithful who remain in the Ecclesia Catholica — those adhering to the Sedes Vacans position, served by bishops of valid orders (Thuc, Lefebvre lines prior to 1988 consecrations, etc.) and priests ordained in the traditional rite — reject this publication entirely. It is a product of the secta conciliaris, a tool for the spiritual anesthesia of youth, preparing them not for the sacramentum cruentatum of Christian marriage but for the divortium of the world. Quisquis amat periculum, in illo peribit (Sir 3:27) — he who loves danger shall perish in it. The danger is the loss of the Faith; the perishing is eternal.

“Let rulers of states therefore not refuse public veneration and obedience to the reigning Christ, but let them fulfill this duty themselves and with their people, if they wish to maintain their authority inviolate and contribute to the increase of their homeland’s happiness.” — Pius XI, Quas Primas (1925)

The “YOUCAT Love Forever” is a document of the reign of Antichrist in the temple of God. Ecce venit dies Domini (Jl 2:1).
